Desperately excited to explore a foreign land and enjoy all the pleasures of being a wife, Mrs Constance Baird is wildly disappointed to join her new husband in Peking, China which she finds barbaric and filled with improper behaviour. With her marriage failing she inadvertently becomes a famous ‘Devil Woman’ throughout the region.
