Sunstrike
By Philip McCutchan
When a civilian appendage to the US Navy in Diego Garcia spills the beans on Professor Nodd’s plans for the Pentagon, and the whole of the United States, no-one but Commander Shaw would do for Max.
Professor Nodd, a physicist with an interest in chemistry has found a way to interfere with the ozone layer. Through possibly beaming fluorocarbons into a single spot above earth, the formation of a temporary hole in the ozone layer threatens key cities with directionalised increased doses of UV. The devastation this would have was already being exhibited in certain islands. 6D2 needed to get involved, and as discreetly as possibly.
Commander Shaw had taken his leave from 6D2 and associated activities. Leading a more normal life was his only consideration, but when Max calls Shaw back to Focal House and dangles the concerns they are facing, along with the proposition of working alongside Miss Felicity Mandrake, a stunning beauty, as his secretary, Shaw takes on the case – only to find himself plunged into a lethal international fray…
