Threats and Menaces

By Alan Scholefield

The roof garden of her luxury apartment block is the only place seven-year-old Dory is ever allowed by herself…

Through her new binoculars she watches a mysterious woman- a woman she has named the Princess of the Pavement People and who lives in the block opposite.

Then one day, as she operates the zoom on her binoculars to look inside the princess’s flat, Dory witnesses an act of terrifying violence…

Meanwhile, Detective Superintendent George Macrae and Detective Sergeant Leopold Silver have been called in to investigate a series of burglaries in the area.

Then the seemingly routine case takes on a frightening dimension when they come across a battered body in an empty flat…

But who has been murdered, and why?

Threats and Menaces is the sensational fourth novel in Alan Scholefield’s highly acclaimed Macrae and Silver Mystery Series.

Alan Scholefield was born in 1931 in Cape Town, South Africa. After leaving university he became a journalist and travelled widely in southern and central Africa, Europe, and America. He now lives in Hampshire with his wife and has three daughters. Most famous for his Macrae and Silver series, Scholefield has also written other novels, including Venom, which was made into a film in 1981.
