Buried Treasure

By Alan Scholefield

A murderous place…

When Miss Sandra Benson goes missing, the quiet sleepy English village in which she lives is sent into uproar.

It’s unthinkable that anyone in such a nice town should be murdered, but that is exactly what Sandra’s mother, Lily, believes has happened.

This only issue is: where is the body?

For a while it looks like the case won’t make it to court, but then a bloody fingerprint of the victim is found on Mason Chitty.

Drawn into the case by her acquaintances and colleagues, Dr Anne Vernon doesn’t know whether to believe Lily’s accusations or Chitty’s professions of innocence.

Can she fit all the pieces together before it is too late? Will the innocent be accused or has Chitty been leading a darker life than he had led her to believe?

Dr Anne Vernon is back for the second instalment of Scholefield’s thriller mystery trilogy, which started with Burn Out.

Alan Scholefield was born in 1931 in Cape Town, South Africa. He studied English Literature at Oxford.
