The Queen’s Caprice
By Marjorie Bowen
Mary Queen of Scots; shrouded in secrecy, surrounded by violence, intoxicating to her subservient subjects yet unable to escape the domineering men in her life. Lord Moray, her bastard half-brother, adores her more than his familial position should allow vowing to not let her into another man’s clutches. In rebellion she marries the handsome but naïve Henry Stewart, who disappointing nature drives her into the arms of the Italian servant David Rizzio. And as acts of murder and treachery unfold, the Earl of Bothwell hovers as a tantalising presence on the outskirts, capturing the queen’s capricious attention.
