The Racket Smashers
By Richard Wormser
The Flash of a Pistol, the Thud of a Falling Body – and Hank Sherman, the Undercover Man, Is Wanted for Murder.
Hank Sherman is the undercover man for Paul Decker’s investigation into the rackets of New York City. His job is to obtain evidence to convict Dan O’Malley, the legal master-mind behind the whole operation, but it soon becomes clear that the only way to achieve this fate is by joining the racketeers himself.
Tensions rise as Ratler, the disbarred lawyer aiding Decker out of enmity for O’Malley, warns Sherman that if he commits a crime the investigation would not protect him.
But how far is Hank willing to go to prevent blowing his cover? How far, when in times past the racketeers had murdered Ross Decker, Paul’s father and Sherman’s old boss? The stakes are too high; the case is personal.
