The London Docklands development should have been the most valuable project of Marnie Walker’s career so far, potentially bringing fame and fortune.
Things could only get better when major archaeological finds add a new dimension of national importance.
But there is rivalry, jealousy and conflict between the archaeologists, and sooner or later this is going to cause serious trouble. And it does.
All Marnie wants is to be able to get on with her work, trying hard not to think of her place in the spotlight and the huge fees that this prestigious project will bring her, not to mention the enhancement of her reputation.
Almost inevitably, tragedy strikes, and the project seems to be doomed or even cursed with misfortune.
Enmities are stirred that threaten to undermine the whole venture. Has one of her colleagues really uncovered the greatest unsolved mystery from the past, or is someone lying? The dispute becomes increasingly bitter, and the death toll rises.
