Rags to Riches

By Mel Stein

It’s a long way to fall from the top of the fashion world.

Spanning from London to New York, this is the remarkable story of Barry Felton. Barry starts his career in the rag trade by sweeping floors but soon begins to learn the business. Soon enough, in the fashion boom of the sixties, he establishes his own successful fashion house.

But a major order from a New York store takes Barry into a dizzyingly dark high-powered world and he is soon mixed up with a fast-moving crowd of drug-taking jetsetters. Can he escape before everything he has worked so hard to create is destroyed?

Rags To Riches is a gripping tale that exposes the fashion trade and reveals a harsh cut-throat world where those who are successful today can easily be tomorrow’s failures. Perfect for fans of Lauren Weisberger and Paul Auster.

Mel Stein was born in London and has two children, boys aged five and three, both of whom are fully paid-up members of the Newcastle United Supporters Club. His main interest is Newcastle United but in his spare time, he is a partner in a firm of Westminster solicitors. His other novels include Danger Zone.
