Only Living Witness
By Malcolm Forsythe
Although the body under the patio is long dead, it heralds a murder spree… and a challenge for Millson and Scobie.
For twenty-five years, the remains of a young man have lain beneath the patio of a house in Great Yeldham. When those remains are finally unearthed, DCI Millson and DS Scobie must piece together their history – with nowhere to turn but the past.
Then, another body is discovered on the Essex mudflats, and the past catches up with the present. A yacht, seen in the vicinity the previous night, turns out to be that of Robert Forman, whose father owned the house in Great Yeldham.
But Forman is dead before he can be questioned. Only one potential witness remains alive: Robert Forman’s sister. She’s currently in hiding. But the killer knows who she is, and will stop at nothing to silence her.
Only Living Witness is a fine addition to Forsythe’s Millson and Scobie series, and a compelling read in its own right. It’s a great choice for anyone who enjoys British murder-mysteries and police procedurals.
