The Long Trail
By Onias Bondo
The residents of Forgotten Town are still haunted by the bandit bank robbery that plunged them into poverty and ruin.
With all the deputies murdered and only Sheriff Matthews left to police the town, sly and wealthy Saul Bills is all but free to rule Forgotten Town with his prosperous ranch and brutal bodyguard.
Woe betide anyone who merely looks at him the wrong way – or worse, dares to talk to the beautiful Esmerelda, whose father was murdered by bandits so Bills could claim her as his wife.
She doesn’t wish to marry him or surrender her inheritance, but it doesn’t matter. Bills always gets what he wants.
Until a stranger rides into town.
A dusty cowboy, the stranger calls himself Buffalo Brown. Though the townspeople are immediately suspicious, he gains Sheriff Matthews’ trust and they find they have more in common than they thought.
Though Buffalo claims to be looking for work, he is hunting Fast, the man who killed his wife and who bears a striking resemblance to the bandit who led the bank robbery…
Buffalo gains the trust of Forgotten Town, and the people are optimistic once more that they’ll see their money returned and justice served.
But as Buffalo begins to fall in love with Esmerelda, the pair find themselves in danger once more, and new as well as old enemies crawl out of the woodworks to finish what they started…
