Madge Swindells was born and educated in England. She later immigrated to South Africa where she studied archaeology and anthropology at Cape Town University. Returning to England, she was a Fleet Street journalist before becoming the manager of her own publishing company. Her first novel, Summer Harvest, was published in 1983.
