Rawhide
Few will surviveā¦
In the days when the emigrant wagons rumbled constantly through the small town of Independence, Peter Leeds was the best-known scout on the Santa Fe trail.
His services were always in demand to guide settlers across the Indian-infested country that lay between them and the land of promise of which they dreamed.
Tough as rawhide, the scout had faced the dangers of the trail a thousand times over.
But perhaps his most exciting adventure was one that he began at sun-up as he headed west with a big train of thirty heavily laden wagons, two hundred head of cattle, and, most important of all, a golden-haired girl that would plague his heart.
The days are hot and unforgiving and the nights are full of constant threats from wolves and, even worse, vengeful Indians.
The odds are most definitely stacked against Rawhide and it soon becomes unclear as to whether he will be able to lead the trail of wagons safely to Santa Fe.
With tensions rising between the travellers – divided by language, country and loyalty – Rawhide knows there are only a handful of people he can trust.
Full of fiery altercations, trickery and ambushes, the journey to Santa Fe is far from uneventful.
In a barren and treacherous landscape, can forbidden love survive?
Or it will it wither as it’s surrounded by treachery and deceit from all sides?
With the prairie winds of adventure rippling through its pages, Rawhide is a magnificent tale that brings to life the great days of the West.
The perfect read for fans of Zane Grey type westerns.
