Midshipman Rex Carew VC

The Great War is violently consuming Europe.

The Royal Navy also fights to keep control of the sea.

When sixteen-year-old Midshipman Rex Carew gets his orders he is expecting danger.

What he isn’t expecting is to meet Mike Mulvaney, who has broken his leave and insists that Rex take him prisoner.

What starts as a trick on poor Rex eventually becomes friendship when Mike falls into the sea and Rex jumps overboard to save him.

But Mike is more than a scoundrel, he’s also an excellent sailor. In no time at all he turns Rex from a naïve young man into a strong and capable leader.

The two of them soon find themselves in the midst of danger and adventure.

The situation looks particularly dire when Carew and Malverny are stranded on an Island.

But amongst their escapades there are heroic tales of men fighting against all odds for what they believe in, daring rescues, and sinister plots.

In this tale of adventure and bravery, Rex Carew and Mike Mulvaney fight to stay alive or take as many enemies as possible down with them…

Can the young hero survive?

Midshipman Rex Carew VC is a classic young adult naval yarn written during the First World War.

John S. Margerison (1887-1925) authored several books around the topic of the Royal Navy. Margerison married in 1907 and had three children.
