Free Range Wife

By Michael Kenyon

A femme fatale… or a female Jack the Ripper?

It was springtime in France-the season of love in the country of romance. But Scotland Yard Inspector Henry Peckover had murder on his mind.

The local police had asked him to make some inquiries about Mrs. Mercy McCluskey, a Frenchman’s lusty American wife. It seemed that a former boyfriend of this most-liberated lady had turned up dead. Then a second . . . and a third!

Before long, Inspector Peckover had uncovered an IRA connection, a gin-swilling gunrunner, a mysterious killer with a very French twist, and another potential corpse-his own…

Michael Kenyon was born in Huddersfield in 1931. He was a reporter for the Bristol Evening Post, News Chronicle, and the Guardian, and has taught English and journalism at universities in the USA. For seven years he lived in France, and worked as cook to an American family in their beach palace on Long Island.
