Jane Austen Sequels

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any fan of Austen is in want of more to read.

In fact, our appetite for all things Austen-ish is insatiable. Spin-offs, sequels, adaptations — we want it all. Hence, the cloud of #Austenmania kicked up by Netflix’s Persuasion, featuring a messy millennial Anne.

But, in case you weren’t on board with the whole Austen-for-the-modern-world thing (I know a lot of us weren’t), we’ve collected together a couple of sequels written in true Regency Romance style.

And for the most ardent of Austen fans, we’ve discounted an insightful and entertaining study of her most enduring hero.

This delightful new sequel to Austen’s beloved Pride and Prejudice is a witty and elegant visit to the middle-aged Darcys.

The Victorian Age is dawning, and at Pemberley Mrs Darcy has a lot to contend with as a new generation comes into their own. Lydia’s daughters have arrived for a visit, her eldest son is in danger of losing his heart, and a theatrical scandal threatens to engulf them all…

“Ms Billington is both witty and wilful and in love with her heroine. It is exhilarating fun.” – Fay Weldon

One year into her marriage to Mr. Knightley, tragedy falls into Emma’s narrow and comfortable world. She finds she must deal with the fallout, and learn to gain Knightley’s trust as a woman and not just a charming young girl.

“A highly recommended read for Austen fans everywhere and, particularly, for all of us who share a passion for the enduring Mr. Darcy.” – Marilyn Brant, New York Times bestselling author

In this insightful and entertaining study, Dr. Malcolm examines Jane Austen’s influences in creating Darcy’s potent mix of brooding Gothic hero, aristocratic elitist, and romantic Regency man of action, and investigates his impact on popular culture over the past two centuries.
