Years ago an idea popped into my head.
A multi-part idea about creating a detective series featuring two hard boiled characters who happened to be friends, and partners, solving homicide cases. Two cops who have personalities of their own, with all that it implies, with lives and loves and hates unique to each, working together in a world filled with murder.
But the idea didn’t end there. Mixed into the idea was to have these two solve multiple homicide cases in one novel. Real, head-scratching ‘whodunits.’ Each case filled with red herrings, false witnesses, and a bathtub full of suspects. Homicide cases which would, each in their own right, grip a reader’s interest completely and not let him go until the very bloody end. But by placing two such cases into one novel would, in my opinion, make a devotee of this genre become deliriously happy.
The Turner Hahn/Frank Morales series, in which There Are No Innocents is the second book in the series, does just that. And I’m hoping you will discover the duo and come to agree with me.
