My love for books began with bookbinding: hand-sewing paper sections, gluing spines and making hard-back cases. My unhealthy obsession with paper led me to pursue a career in book production at one of the UK’s leading printers, where I set up a department that provided publishing consultancy and production advice to independent publishers.
I was lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful books every day, printed with intricate foiling designs, clever heat-sensitive inks, and die-cut covers; but I was always the producer and never the designer. That all changed when I left to co-found Break the Habit Press, a feminist independent publishing house. After a fun couple of years, I was offered the role of COO at Lume Books, where I have the privilege of working with 8 fellow book lovers.
