Beryl Kingston is a prolific bestselling author. Her first book was published in 1985 and was an instant bestseller. Her novels include family sagas Hearts and Farthings and its sequel Kisses and Ha’pennies, contemporary fiction such as Laura’s Way and Maggie’s Boy and historical novels like the upcoming Everybody’s Somebody.
The novel tells the story of the life of Rosie Goodison, born at the beginning of the twentieth-century, through WW1 and WW2, the social upheavals of Suffragism and the rise of Fascism, and her life as a mother and a woman in this tumultuous time. It’s a tough life, but she’s had to grow up young and learn to become a survivor.

Having written more than 25 novels, one might think that Beryl would struggle for inspiration. On the contrary, Beryl writes every day and is currently working on novels number 29 and 30. She tells us a little about where she gets her writing ideas from below:
Sooner or later any writer who gives a talk at one of our surviving libraries or a school or any other group will be asked ‘Where do you get your stories from?’ It’s as inevitable as daybreak. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been asked and I always answer in the same way. ‘That’s a bit like asking a fish where on earth it finds all that water to swim in,’ I say. It gets a laugh. But it’s true. There are as many stories as there are people and they’re all different. As time and novels went by I made a list of some of the more entertaining titbits I’d gathered and used it as the basis of a talk. Some have already grown into novels, others are still waiting. Take a look.

As a writer I’ve been very lucky to have publishers who by and large have allowed me to follow my fancies wherever they led me. And now whoopee! I’ve been taken on by Endeavour Ink who are handing me the same freedom. There are times when I don’t believe my luck!
