Fifty Years in the Royal Navy
Percy Scott entered the Royal Navy as a cadet in 1866, aged just thirteen. This would mark the beginning of his quest to improve gunnery, and his criticism of the apparatus behind the Navy, at a time when there was stiff opposition towards any form of naval reform. In Fifty Years in the Royal Navy Scott presents his efforts – and those of his brother officers – to improve the shooting of the British Fleet alongside his account of a lifetime’s service, incorporating five wars.
