Christmas is Coming
By John Rae
When they emerged from the theatre into the clear December night, the freezing air leapt at them like a waiting beast.
On their walk home, they come across a freezing homeless man sheltering under a bridge. While part of the family continue on their way, sisters Alyce and Emily lag behind, brooding on the injustice of it all. No living person would choose to lie here in this bitter weather.
After a brief encounter with ‘The Newspaper Man’, the girls run home through the cold, but unable to ignore their experience, set out to find him the following day. From that moment on, they vow to help Benedict O’Hara get back home to see his family.
But does he really want to return to his native Ireland for Christmas? And, anyway, could the fare be raised in such a short time?
Christmas is Coming is a classic Christmas tale of hope, love and giving.
