Both Feet in Hell
By Alan David
1944, France. Nine British soldiers are fighting in the newly formed One Section Battalion under the unpopular, but brilliantly effective, Sergeant Baggott. Together, they are fighting alongside the American Allies against the biggest German attack since Normandy, and the last big German offensive of the Second World War. Their aim is to re-capture a French town, with the hope that they will be home in time to enjoy a white Christmas with their loved ones. But they are thrown into fierce combat against the German army as they attempt to reclaim the town by venturing from the safety of the Valley of Shadows into no-man’s-land. Time and time again the soldiers find themselves separated from one another and, despite their brave efforts to take on great numbers of the enemy alone, many meet a brutal death as a consequence. Will they make it to the British troops before they are all killed? Can they take control of the French land? Or will One Section Battalion become another casualty of war?
