Back to the Legion

By Gordon Landsborough

Tex made it out alive.

What’s more, he’s got Rube, Joe and Nicky by his side, and ex-Nazi Colonel Sturmer as his prisoner.

Now, all they need is to get through 400 miles of desert and onto a ship to get back home.

But then comes Suleiman. They find him, hideously tortured, dying of thirst and raving in the Sahara sun. Tex saves his life, and can tell that behind the broken features is a good soul. Unfortunately, Suleiman is a man on a mission, and in his delirium, he says too much…

Who are the Brotherhood of Tormented Men? His rant only mentioned the name in passing, yet that knowledge is already too much.

Made brethren by brutal torture in the underground cells of secret police all over the Arab world, they have a mission to change their world… and when a travel-stained group of ex-legionnaires come upon them, that mission means their death.

In the midst of a violent Arab uprising against their French rulers, Tex and his companions must survive the chaos of war and the murderous Brotherhood of Tormented Men.

And as the oppressed rise against their oppressors on several fronts, it’s impossible to tell friend from foe.

But Tex was never one to take things lying down, and as long as Sturmer isn’t facing justice in the courts of the Allied War Crimes Commission, he’s still got work to do…
